Neurological Conditions
We have experience in treating infants, children, and adults with neurological issues such as brachial plexus injury, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and developmental coordination disorder.
Cerebral Palsy
Children and adults with cerebral palsy are often “managed” and not actually treated. They are left to their own devices to adapt to rapid growth in childhood. In adulthood people often experience deteriorating mobility due to lack of meaningful treatment. Cerebral palsy is NOT a progressive disorder so this should not be considered acceptable. These issues require active intervention in order to maximize function and quality of life.
Cerebral Palsy Requires Ongoing Physiotherapy Treatment
Brachial Plexus Injury
This occurs most often at birth, but can occur with an injury later in life. It involves damage to the nerves that help the arm to move. Early identification and intervention are crucial to improving outcomes.
Developmental Delay
Any infant/childhood milestones that are significantly delayed warrant assessment and treatment. Paediatric expertise is essential in identifying potential issues and determining the right treatment.
Developmental Coordination Disorder
In our experience, children with developmental coordination disorder have issues of overall instability and poor alignment. These challenges often worsen at times of rapid growth. Treatment at all stages can help.

Physiotherapy Treatment for Developmental Coordination Disorder
While the underlying neurological components of DCD can’t be changed with treatment, alignment, mobility, and stability sure can. It seems to me that if you have motor planning difficulties, being crooked and unstable surely can’t help.
Cerebral Palsy Requires Ongoing Physiotherapy Treatment
Unfortunately, people with cerebral palsy are inevitably told to “live with it”. The diagnosis is definitely not going away, but treatment over the lifespan can not only preserve mobility but also prevent issues like painful joints before they start, or at the very least delay the onset of the osteoarthritis associated with alignment and stability challenges.
